Be transported to Southern Europe over four days and nights of gourmet food and wine experiences at Subi Spritz this spring.
From 31 March to 3 April, Subiaco will be transformed into a Mediterranean playground, with bespoke events crafted to celebrate the distinctive cuisines, laid back lifestyle and carefree days synonymous with the quintessential European experience.
Locals and visitors can expect lavish long lunches, prosecco picnics in the park, wine workshops, pasta cooking classes, alfresco dining experiences, Spanish film nights… all seasoned with a dash of international panache.
Subiaco Mayor David McMullen said Subiaco had a unique connection to Europe, particularly Italy, where the Subiaco name originates.
“The locals already know about the amazing food and wine experiences in Subiaco, and Subi Spritz is an opportunity to share this with the whole of Perth,” he said.
“We hope this will encourage people to visit Subiaco year-round.”
Working closely with businesses in Subiaco, the event will showcase the diverse influences that have shaped the area’s restaurants and bars. Events will be housed in pop-up locations, parks and gardens, and restaurants and venues across Subiaco.
Authentic Italian fare is part of the everyday for local favourite, Dilly Dally, but the Rokeby Road restaurant will be stepping things up a notch for Subi Spritz.
Co-owner Patrick Ryan said they would be helping to ease the transition from day to night in the best way possible – with great food, great wine and great music.
“While the idea comes straight from the Italian coast, it suits Perth just as much; the locals love to make the most out of the sunset and then carry on the fun into the night,” he said.
There will be aperitivo, some great music, and plenty of Italian food and booze to enjoy.
It’s going to be a lot of fun and hopefully people will feel like they’ve got away – even if it’s just for one night!”
